I found an amazing little app the other day that makes it so much fun to go shopping :). If you’re going to spend money anyway, why not get paid back a little for doing it when you get home? Introducing — the Ibotta app.

How does Ibotta work?

It is very simple. First, sign up. Then look at the offers available to you. You’ll see a ton of products you use every day that you would probably buy anyway when you’re out shopping. Each item will have a dollar amount under it like you see in the pic below:

The dollar amount listed means that if you buy that item at the store, that’s how much Ibotta will pay you for proving you bought it!

How do you prove you bought it?

Again, very easy. There’s no need to scan bar codes or anything like that. Just upload your receipt to Ibotta when you get home. They will verify that you did indeed purchase the item and then credit your account accordingly. It usually takes less than a day — sometimes just a few hours — for them to verify your items.

And then how do you get paid?

This is my favorite part — you get paid with Paypal and you only need to have $5 accumulated! It’s very, very easy to reach the $5 amount when you see how much the items listed pay. And as another bonus, they are giving new members that sign up a $5 bonus as soon as their first item purchased has been verified! This means that it won’t take you long at all to get your first cash out.
Also, once the funds are showing in your Ibotta account, you can cash them out immediately to Paypal and there is no waiting. You’ll get the email that you got paid right away.

Does Ibotta work at all stores?

Not currently, but it does work at many, and they are adding new stores to their list all the time.
Here are the stores currently supported (always check the stores within the app to see what’s been added recently):
CVS, Rite Aid, Military Commissary, Target, Walgreen’s, Walmart, 7-Eleven, City Market, Dillon’s, Dominick’s, Duane Reade, Food4Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Giant Eagle, H-E-B, Harris Teeter, Hy-Vee, King Soopers, Kroger, Meijer, Pavilions, Pick ‘N Save, Publix, QFC, Ralphs, Randall’s, Safeway, ShopRite, Smith’s, Stop & Shop, Tom Thumb, Vons, WinCo Foods.

Who can you use this app?

You just need a mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) that can work with Apple or Android. The download is 100 percent free!

Can you get paid to refer your friends?

Yes. Absolutely share the referral link you are given with your friends (if you are impressed with the app and I really think you will be). Ibotta is currently paying $1 for every user you refer.

I have been paid …
