The Small Business Knowledge Center really wants your junk mail! And not only what you get in your mailbox, but also your junk email :) I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to cart that stuff off to anyone who actually wants it. Here’s more details on how it works:

How does SBKC pay for junk mail?

They actually pay you in points for your junk mail, and you can use these points to redeem for gift cards at igiftcard.com.

How many points do you get for your mailings?

You can get up to 100 points for each mailing. Certain types of mailings pay more than others do.

What kind of mailings do they accept?

This changes frequently, but they prefer things like insurance mailings, stock, telecommunications (satellite and cell phone providers), credit card solicitations, brochures, newsletters, and so forth. When you sign up, they have a list of everything they are looking for and sometimes they offer double points each month for certain types of mailings. What they don’t normally want are catalogs, coupons, information on sales from stores, and things like that.

How do you actually get your mail to them?

They will send you some prepaid envelopes to use. Just put your junk mail in them and drop them in your mailbox whenever. You can also forward your spam email (the insurance and other type stuff mentioned above, not scam lottery type stuff) to their secure email address and you’ll get points for that stuff too.

Should you be worried about your privacy?

SBKC claims to shred and recycle all your mailings. There are people who have been doing this for several years that have apparently  not had any issues. However, if you don’t feel comfortable with it, you shouldn’t sign up. Only do what you feel comfortable doing.

How can you sign up?

The link to sign up for this panel is here. Good luck and please come back to let me know how it’s going for you!
