With the New Year comes resolutions for most of us, and I can bet that most people resolve to make more money! I know that’s something I would like to do as well. If you already have a primary source of income, a secondary, smaller source of income might come in handy for those little emergencies, a pizza on a night when you don’t feel like cooking, or just for saving purposes. It’s always nice to know you have multiple sources here and there to rely on for cash if you need to.
Here are some useful ways to get that extra money you need:

Take Paid Surveys

There are lots of sites you can sign up with for this, some better than others. I would recommend sticking with the ones that pay you in straight cash so you don’t have to worry about keeping track of points. Some recommendations include American Consumer Opinion, Pinecone, and Mindfield Online.

Rate Your Favorite Music

Slice the Pie is a website a lot of people use for gas or pizza money here and there. And, you can earn the money for doing something fun — listening to music! Just give your honest opinion on the songs you hear, write well-thought out, short reviews, and get paid with Paypal once you have accumulated $10 into your account.

Answer Text Messages

A lot of people use ChaCha for earning extra cash. Keep in mind this isn’t something you can just sign up for and start doing — you’ll be required to take and pass a test. Mainly what you do is take incoming texts from people, answering their questions about anything and everything via your computer. Most people don’t make more than $2 to $4 an hour, but if you are bored and have some downtime, you may end up with a small little chunk of change at the end of the month just from doing this.

Become a Field Agent

Do you have an iPhone? There is a great little app called Field Agent you can download free and get paid for doing odd jobs around your town. This might involve taking pictures of store displays at your local Wal-Mart, verifying the hours of a certain business, or simply taking a survey. Some people are able to earn anywhere from $50 to more than $100 extra dollars per month just for taking Field Agent assignments!

Sell Your Used Books

There are sites, like Cash 4 Books, that will pay you for your used books. If you have textbooks you don’t need anymore, even better! These tend to be in demand. You will have to supply your own packaging to send your books to this company, but they will cover the cost of the shipping by letting you print out a shipping label to use.
Keep in mind that none of these things equal an actual income on their own, but they’ll certainly work for extra money here and there if you need it (and who doesn’t?)
What are your ideas for earning extra cash in 2012?
